Edgard Raúl Leoni Moreno: Economic Law, an Instrument to Improve Quality of Life

Economic Law is a practical specialty which seeks the well-being of people and their environment by providing quality of life with protected interests that show sustainable development. Also, by showing the key elements that improve life.
This refers to environmental health as a goal to be achieved by the economic legal system.

As stated on the Constitution of the Republic of Mexico, in its article 40: “every person has the right to an appropriate environment for his or her development and well-being, and every family has the right to have a house. The law will establish the necessary instrument and support to reach said objective.”

As in Mexico, other countries of Latin America, and the world, Economic Law is applied to protect and preserve society and the State. To preserve the environmental health and to provide well-being for society, it is necessary to take care of:

  • The quality of air and water
  • Water supply
  • Quality of food
  • Toxic substances
  • The security of products meant for human consumption
  • Characteristics of the houses
  • Disposal of toxic waste
  • Use of the soil
  • Noise control
  • Health
  • Work security
  • The effects of radiation

·         Security and safety of beaches, pools, recreational areas, among others.
By considering these aspects, it can be said that the Economic Law intervenes as a regulator of public policies created to consolidate territorial spaces, and to establish public offers for the construction of houses for communities. Moreover, to boost the construction of an infrastructure of services and to promote the development of system and technologies of a country.
